A conference with many faces
Researchers
The Competence 50+ 2007 conference is more than a scientific event. It is intended to provide a meeting place for European stakeholders taking active part in bringing about an extended working life for the elderly workforce, and eliminating age discrimination in working life.
As a scientist, you will have the unique opportunity not only to present your results to scientific colleagues, but also to reach practitioners who are in a position to influence rules and regulations at the society level, as well as to bring about technical or organisational changes in workplaces.
Even though the focus of the programme is on the European working life, we welcome participation by international scientists as well.
Scientific contributions in terms of poster presentations are welcome. The organisers will take special care to make all poster presentations visible and make sure that they will reach a wide audience. There will be no oral presentations outside the invited sessions where scientists and practitioners mix.
The deadline for submissions on the website is February 15, 2007.
Scientific Advisory board
The Scientific Advisory Board will assist the organisers in planning the scientific events of the conference, and assist in reviewing the submissions for quality and relevance.

Equal Project initiatives
The EQUAL initiative is a laboratory for new ideas for the European employment stratey and the Social inclusion process. Its mission is to promote more inclusive working life by combating discrimination and exclusion based on gender, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation. EQUAL is implemented in and between Member States and is funded through the European Social Fund.
Thousands of Development partnerships, selected by the Member States, are networking at national and European level. More than € 3 billion are being devoted to combating discrimination in the labour market, within a specific regulatory framework.
In round two there are almost 2000 projects divided into different thematic fields, 1A Employability - (Re-) Integration into the Labour Market, 1B Employability - Combating racism, 2C Entrepreneurship - Business Creation, 2D Entrepreneurship - Social Economy, 3E Adaptability – Lifelong Learning, 3F Adaptability - Adaptation to Change and NIT, 4G Equal Opportunities - Reconciling family and professional life, 4H Equal Opportunities - Reducing Gender Gaps and Desegregation, and 5 Asylum Seekers.
Of all these projects, around 200 deal with age discrimination. Our ambition is for you to come to our conference and share your results with other equal members, researchers and politicians. We hope that you will take a stand in our exhibition and also present your results in a showcase. In addition, we hope that you will be able to make some new contacts for a new European project in the new programme that will run from 2007 to 2013. We will arrange a special contact seminar at the conference in order to make it easier for participants to draw up new project ideas together.
In order to prepare our conference properly we would like you to fill in a special form on our website concerning the results of your project and also giving details of your future interest in the new European Social Fund programme for 2007- 2013. You will find the form at www.livskompetens.com
All EQUAL projects which present their results in a showcase will also be included in the Conference Abstract.
